About Jacinthe Koddo

From Interior Designer to CFO Advisor, I've lived the journey you're on. I know what it's like to build a creative business, face the financial learning curve, and figure out how to make it all work—because I've been there myself.

After starting my career in interior design, I took an unexpected turn into entrepreneurship in 2009. Six businesses, four failures, and countless sleepless nights later (read the full story here), I discovered my true passion: helping other creative business owners build something valuable, not just buy themselves a job.

Why I Do This Work

Every day, I talk to talented creative business owners who tell me:

  • "I can't tell if I'm actually making money or just busy"

  • "I'm not sure if I can afford to hire"

  • "I want to step back, but I don't know if the numbers work"

Sound familiar? I get it. Nobody taught us the financial side of running a business in design school. That's why I've dedicated my work to being the guide I wish I'd had—someone who speaks both languages (creative and financial) and can translate complex numbers into clear decisions.

How I Help

I work with creative business owners making under $10M to help them:

  • Know exactly how much they can pay themselves

  • Make confident decisions about hiring and growth

  • Build real business value while maintaining creative excellence

  • Get solid financial systems that let them sleep at night

My clients typically see transformative results, from establishing 3-6 months of cash reserves to significantly boosting how much they can pay themselves. But what matters most is the confidence they gain in running their business.

A Few More Things About Me

When I'm not helping creative business owners master their numbers, you might find me:

  • Playing with my cat Olive (who makes regular appearances in video calls)

  • Learning Brazilian Portuguese (with dreams of spending several months a year there)

  • Exploring my hometown of Calgary after recently moving back

  • Working on growing my own businesses—because I practice what I teach

My Journey

  • Started as an interior designer (yes, I have the degree to prove it!)

  • Launched my first business in 2009 (a meal delivery service before they were trendy)

  • Took a deep dive into accounting and finance in 2018

  • Now advising creative firms across interior design, marketing, PR, and architecture

Let's Build Something Valuable

If you're ready to move from "I'm not a numbers person" to feeling confident about your business finances, let's talk. I help translate complex numbers into clear decisions, so you can build a business that works for you—not the other way around.

What People Are Saying

"I got a ton of value out of our meeting! It gave me much-needed visibility into how my business operates financially, which has helped me take better control of both profit and operations. The experience was incredibly insightful, and I’d love to work together again in the future. I'll also be spreading the word in my network because I had such a positive experience!"

- Erin Cardone, President & Founder, Legendary Social Media

"We've already used the pricing calculator 5-6 times in the first few weeks, and it's been revolutionary. It showed us that we were regularly undercharging for some services; but critically where we were undercharging and how to rectify it.

Having a more concrete and systematic approach to our work has given us much more confidence when quoting, especially with bigger numbers that felt uncomfortable before. When clients ask "Why is that expensive?", we can walk them through exactly why, and negotiate from a stronger position. It's working brilliantly for both brand projects and campaign work alike."

- James Hearn, Co-Founder & Strategy Director, Skeleton Crew

We’ve had phenomenal growth and a lot of it has to do with my confidence, ability to read the numbers and make sound business decisions.

- Christine Pilkington, Crisp Media Inc.

As scientists and engineers by training, we've used spreadsheets extensively, but when it comes to financial data, we are newer to the field. Jacinthe's insights have been valuable in helping us make sense of the numbers and gain a better understanding of our financial picture…especially in the lead up to and during Annelies' parental leave. Thank you, Jacinthe, for helping us navigate this journey and providing us with insights to support us along the way.

Jacinthe has helped us feel empowered by the information she comprehensively gathers and presents for our business. It is like finding toonies in the couch on a grand scale: we have a budget and room to grow where we couldn't see it before. Her expertise will make an invaluable addition to any small business team.

Before working with Jacinthe, I never felt quite sure where the business was financially. While we had money in the bank, I knew that it didn't tell the full picture of whether or not the business was profitable and how I could invest our money. Working with Jacinthe helps me to feel confident in making important business decisions like can I hire more staff, can I expand my advertising budget, and can I pay myself more? I'm able to run my business better knowing that we can expand our operations and increase our profitability.

Working with Jacinthe to build my Financial Roadmap was truly transformative. She empowered me to feel clear about decisions I need to make with prioritizing the best investments for us to make as a team, and priorities I have to balance my personal life with my business aspirations, say "no" to clients that aren't a good fit, and proactively pitch and invest in my dream work. It's forced me to step up my financial literacy and I feel more confident and proud of myself for going through this phase and tackling my business' finances head-on.
